John Forstrom is a principal in the firm Forstrom Jackson. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1987. Mr. Forstrom practiced with the firm of Swinton & Co., as an associate and then a partner. Since 1999, he has been the principal of John Forstrom Law Corporation and he practises law through Forstrom Jackson, Barristers and Solicitors, a partnership of law corporations.

The primary focus of Mr. Forstrom's practice is commercial litigation. He has advised and represented clients in a wide variety of commercial matters, including corporate, real estate, collections, insolvency, employment and intellectual property disputes. Mr. Forstrom has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in British Columbia, before various regulatory bodies, and in commercial mediation and arbitration hearings.

Mr. Forstrom has developed particular expertise with disputes relating to the securities industry, and logging industry disputes.

Mr. Forstrom's experience in securities related disputes includes civil disputes amongst issuers, brokers and investors as well as administrative proceedings before the applicable regulators. He has represented his clients in disciplinary proceedings before the B.C. Securities Commission, the Investment Dealers Association, and other regulatory bodies, and in related proceedings arising from their investigations (eg. criminal charges, Law Society discipline, etc.). He has acted for brokers, investment dealers and individual investors in civil proceedings, both advancing and defending various types of claims.

With respect to the logging industry, since 1991, Mr. Forstrom has acted as counsel to the Truck Loggers Association and a number of its members, and has represented them in a variety of disputes. He also assisted in the drafting of revisions to the regulations under the Forest Act governing relations between license holders and contractors, acting as a liaison between the Truck Loggers Association and the Provincial Government.
